concept store STUDIO AYQIDO
On Friday STUDIO AYQIDO will open their Concept Store at Jansveld 39 in Utrecht. The concept store combines fashion, photography and art.
Manuela Eringaard will present the STUDIO AYQIDO fashion collection, photographer Thijs Koelink will show a part of the photo exposition 'Structures'. MOK-C will showcase his recently released EP 'Patience' and TMS81 will present illustrations and artwork from a street art background.

DDW: Lex Pott
One of my favourite designers at the Dutch Design Week this year is Lex Pott. The project 'True colours' by Amsterdam based designer is the outcome of his research on metals and the changing colours from the time they are found in the ground until the end of the oxidation process.
'When an element like copper is found in nature it has a green colour. Iron has an orange / brown colour when being found inside the earth. Oxidized metal surfaces create colours that provide information about a material. The pallete is a reaction with the base material. Therefore the coloured surfaces have an organic growth of colour and not every colour is possible on every surface.'

Today I went to the Graduation Show of the Design Academy Eindhoven and saw some lovely projects amongst the graduates. Being a colour-addict I photographed these three projects:
Leather Nudes by Renske Verbeek
Renske works with leather in natural colours. The seams are glued together and make a curious detail.
The Symbiosis of Stoneware & Porcelain
by Dienke Dekker and Daniel Costa
The project investigates the behavioural and aesthetic qualities of two distinct types of ceramics.
Soft concrete by Jolijn Pasmans
During her project, Jolijn researched concrete with an experimental anti-industrial approach.

olive wood meets lapis lazuli
I came across this lovely bracelet made from olive wood and lapis lazuli by the artist Arthur Kemelman. He mainly works with olive wood and materials such as malachite, lapis or gold leaf. The handmade items are all natural pieces of art.

Matija Čop
these items are from the collection 'Object 12-1' by Croatian fashion and textile designer Matija Čop.
Matija Čop is a first-year graduate student of Fashion Design at the Faculty of Textile Design of the University in Zagreb. Before enrolling he studied Croatian Philology at the Faculty of Philosophy. With his mentor Jasminka Končić he is working on understanding fashion. Object 12-1 is the end-product of his experiments in the multiplication of materials.

an event in Utrecht packed with fashion shows, lectures, workshops and an exhibition in the centre of the city. I liked the variation of the events that gave an insight into Utrecht's fashion scene.
